Soul sleep is the teaching that when a person dies, their soul “sleeps” (has no thoughts, desires, or emotions) until the time of their future resurrection. Now, while what you believe about this matter really doesn’t matter, as it is not an eternal life issue, I still felt led this week to say a few words about it, because I love all truth. So let me say right up front, this doctrine is Biblically OBVIOUSLY false!One proof that our souls continue living (have thoughts, desires, and emotions) after we “die” on Earth is the souls of the deceased Moses and Elijah appearing and talking with Jesus during his time on Earth: “And, behold, there appeared unto them (the disciples) Moses and Elijah talking with Jesus” (Matthew 17:3). How could this be if Moses and Elijah were in soul sleep? It couldn’t.
Furthermore, Jesus told the Sadducees: “Have ye not read in the book(s) of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto Moses, saying, I AM the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err” (Mark 12:26-27). See, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob had been long since dead when Moses arrived on Earth, but God referred to them as if they were living when He spoke to Moses, saying “I AM the God …” If they were dead, as in soul sleeping, God would have most likely said “I WAS the God …”
Jesus’ story of the rich man and Lazarus also proves the souls of the dead are still alive RIGHT NOW! How? Because in hell, the rich man cried out to Abraham: “I have five brethren (please send Lazarus) that he may testify unto them, lest they also come to this place of torment” (Luke 16:28). If the souls of the dead sleep (have no thoughts) until the last day, the time of the resurrection, how does this story have any basis in reality? It wouldn’t! But rest assured, Jesus always spoke things of Truth. Yes, all the souls of the people who have lived and died on this 5,985 year old Earth are still living somewhere else, even today, be it a good place or bad, awaiting the time of their resurrection and Judgment!

i very strongly support the position that the teaching "soul sleep" is hugely mistaken.. Because our Bible is plain about the continuity of life after death. Apart from the Holly Bible, I had once a dream as almost clear as physical reality and wonderful one that i went up very high place where i met some eight spirits of dead people that had been once on our earth. The way they talked to each other and play was very pleasant. The entire environment was impressively glorious though not that much beautiful. I am convinced 98% that this dream was from God. When i got up i felt something i have never felt in my life time..i was startled..but happy and i longed for the time when the Lord would take my spirit from my body. The message was plain that dead people are not dead, but are living somewhere out of this earth planet and somehow they retain there soul( emotion, feeling, intellect) and these people are spirits, not in the flesh anymore.
