The Day of the Lord will "Come as a Thief"

Here’s a Biblical phrase in God’s holy Word that satanically-deceived, pre-tribulation rapture proponents misconstrue and then use to promote their erroneous and dangerous doctrine. They say, “See, Christ is “coming like a thief” which means he will secretly and silently snatch away millions of believers before the Antichrist arrives, and then Earth will continue on through another 7 years (or so) of the Great Tribulation period, until Christ comes back AGAIN at the very end.”  How anyone with a Bible ever believes this nonsense just amazes me.

Listen, a second-grader could read God’s Word and tell you precisely how and when Christ is coming.  For when Christ left this planet almost 2000 years ago, ascending into a cloud, two angels proclaimed: “… this same Jesus, which was taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner …” (Acts 1:11).  And only a little over a month earlier, Jesus had told his disciples: “Immediately AFTER the tribulation (Great Tribulation) of those days … they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together (rapture into the air) his elect (believers) from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other” (Matthew 24:29-31).  How could it not be any clearer?  Jesus Christ is coming back ONE time (not 2 more times!) in the clouds just like he left, at the sound of the last trumpet, gathering the believers into the air, at the VERY END of the Great Tribulation!  Simple. Crystal clear.  Elementary.

So what about this “coming as a thief” phrase?  What’s it about?  Friend, its meaning is easy to understand, too.  All it means is … for those people living in willful sin, meaning they have not repented or turned from their wicked ways — more specifically, they will be the millions and millions of people all over planet Earth who have the “mark of the beast” on their right hand or forehead to be able to buy and sell — Christ’s coming will be like a thief, because their souls will be PLUNDERED on that day!  In other words, they will LOSE (or have stolen from them) everything on that day, including their chance at obtaining eternal life, for their souls will be cast into hell.  It’s going to be excruciatingly terrible and painful for them.  They will have done to them exactly what happens to someone who is sleeping in a house at night, when a thief comes and steals everything they have.  Do you understand?  The Apostle Paul knew precisely the meaning of Christ’s “coming as a thief” phrase, when he wrote: “For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night … but ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober” (I Thessalonians 5:2-6).  See, to those of us who are living righteously, Christ’s return will NOT be “like a thief” because NOTHING will be stolen (or taken) from us.  Rather, we will gain eternal life!  So again, it’s ONLY to those people living in darkness (willingly doing evil) that Christ’s return will be “like a thief”.

Do you understand now how this phrase “coming like a thief” has NOTHING to do with supporting a pretrib rapture theory?  It simply describes the spiritual nature of what Christ’s coming will be like to sinners on the day of his return.  Amazingly, to the embarrassment of pre-tribulation rapture proponents, a closer look at the use of this phrase “coming like a thief” in Scripture actually PROVES Christ's rapturous return will be at the VERY END of all things!  Listen to Peter: “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up” (II Peter 3:10).  See, Christ’s “coming as a thief” phrase is used here to refer to the time at the very end of the Great Tribulation, when the surface of planet Earth, Antichrist, and all ungodly beast-marked people are about to be burned during Christ’s return, not 7 years (or so) before!  Additionally, in John’s book The Revelation we find the same evidence, for right before the seventh angel pours out its vial, which is the END of the Great Tribulation period, we read: “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame … And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done …” (The Revelation 16:15-17).  So please, please folks, don’t listen to Lucifer’s pre-tribulation rapture lies anymore, for he’s out to weaken your resolve to be faithful unto death, if need be, in the not-to-distant future!

Blessings in Christ Jesus,

Gabriel

  1. I don't believe you Gabriel.A second grader couldn't understand it and they don't.It took years for men to study the Word of God and understand it.I believe Jesus is coming for His children which would be the rapture and then the second coming with us after the tribulation.Sorry but I think you are wrong!

  2. Someone is with you ... then they say they are leaving but will be back. No second-grader (or person) in their right mind would ever think the person means they will come back, then leave again, then come back again! That is just plain ole' foolishness! If that is what the person meant, then they would have clearly said that. Like I said, this stuff is elementary. He left in clouds, he'll be back in clouds, just like he said "immediately AFTER the trib".

    1. noah gives a pretribulation rapture picture, did enoch get raqptured mid flood? postflood? no he was taken away before the flood, did one drop of rain fall until noah and his sons were placed on board the ark ? no once the door was shut just like the foolish virgins only the wise were safell on board, jesus said it would be like the days of noah and of lot, the angel told lot that he was not alowed to start destruction until lot was safely way he was taken at first to anotherr city a picture of the belivers raptureed to the heavely city 2nd peter chapter 2 verse 5 through 9 God repeats [in case you forgot genesis] and in specific reference to end times he state oah was saved and he delivered just lot the lord knweth how to deliver the godly out of temptaions and to reserrve the unjust unto the day of judgement to be punished. in christs first comming manhy pharisees did nott decern the times they belived in a oomming messiah but there are 2 distinct types of messainc prophecys which led them to belive in 2 messwaih ben david and messaih ben joeseph becuase they espected a conquerirng king [christ 2nd comming] they didnt see him as the suffering servent 1st comming, it is the same now there are clealy to parts to his 2nd commig if you comapre scripture clearly in typology the types of the bride show you a picture as well joeseph a type of christ married his gentile bride beofe the 7 years of famine that god used to force joesphs isrealite brothers to repeant

    2. 1) The Bible describes the Rapture and Second Coming as different events.
The Bible must see the Rapture (Jn. 14:1-4; I Cor. 15:51-58; 1 Thes. 4:13-18) and the Second Coming (Zech. 14:1-21; Matt. 24:29-31; Mk. 13:24-27; Lk. 21:25-27; Rev. 19) as separate events, because when the verses are compared they describe two very different scenarios:
Rapture — believers meet Christ in the air
Second Coming — Christ returns to the Mount of Olives to meet the believers on earth

Rapture — Mount of Olives is unchanged
Second Coming — Mount of Olives is divided, forming a valley east of Jerusalem

Rapture — living believers obtain glorified bodies
Second Coming — living believers remain in same bodies

Rapture — believers go to heaven
Second Coming — glorified believers come from heaven, earthly believers stay on earth

Rapture — world left unjudged and living in sin
Second Coming — world is judged and righteousness is established

Rapture — depicts deliverance of the Church from wrath
Second Coming — depicts deliverance of believers who endured wrath

Rapture — no signs precede it
Second Coming — many signs precede it

Rapture — revealed only in New Testament
Second Coming — revealed in both Old and New Testaments

Rapture — deals with only the saved
Second Coming — deals with both the saved and unsaved

      Rapture — Satan remains free
Second Coming — Satan is bound and thrown into the Abyss
Since the Rapture and Second Coming clearly are different events that do not occur at the same time, this would rule out a Post-Tribulation Rapture scenario.

    3. There are seven supernatural translation events in God's plan:
(God does many things in sevens - the number of completion.)

      The seven supernatural translation events:
The translation of Enoch before the flood
The taking of Elijah in a whirlwind in the early times of Israel
The resurrection and ascension of Jesus
The rapture of the true Church
The resurrection and ascension of the two witnesses
The resurrection of the saints at the end of the great tribulation
The final resurrection and judgment after the thousand year reign
The ancient Jewish marriage ceremony proclaims a pretribulation rapture picture.
The groom goes to the bride's house and is betrothed to the bride (the faithful on the earth)
He pays the purchase price (his blood)
He returns to his father to prepare a place for the bride ("I go to prepare a place for you")
Later the groom comes for the bride (rapture)
He takes her to his father's house and gives her gifts where she is adorned and prepared for the wedding (judgment seat of Christ where crowns are awarded)
The wedding then takes place before the father and the witnesses (in the father's house)
The groom appears with his bride (second coming in glory with his saints)
Then the wedding feast takes place (on earth with invited guests of the bride and groom)

    4. The Church is the Bride of Christ.
      Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
Eph 5:31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Eph 5:32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
2Cor 11:2 For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
The Rapture is likened to a wedding, and from the Bible, we know a wedding lasts a week, we know the rapture will be pre tribulation. The scriptures define a marriage as being a week long event. (Bridal week) = (Tribulation week)
Judges 14:1-18 ...And Samson made a feast there, as was customary for bridegrooms. ...If you can give me the answer within the seven days of the feast... She cried the whole seven days of the feast.
Genesis 29:22-28 So Laban brought together all the people of the place and gave a feast. ... Finish this daughter's bridal week
The time of intimacy (the bride being with the bridegroom sealed away in the bridal chamber) begins at the start of the bridal week, and this is what we look forward to in the pre tribulation rapture.

The Parable of the 10 virgins contains many themes of the rapture, the marriage, and the feast of trumpets.
[Mat 25:1] Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
[Mat 25:2] And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
[Mat 25:3] They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
[Mat 25:4] But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
[Mat 25:5] While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
[Mat 25:6] And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
[Mat 25:7] Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
[Mat 25:8] And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
[Mat 25:9] But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
[Mat 25:10] And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
[Mat 25:11] Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
[Mat 25:12] But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
[Mat 25:13] Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

At the end of the tribulation, people are in heaven (the bride, the Church),
and coming down out of heaven, because they have been there for 7 years.

    5. At the end of the tribulation, people are in heaven (the bride, the Church),
and coming down out of heaven, because they have been there for 7 years.
[Luke 12:36] And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.
[Rev 19:1] And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven [the raptured], saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
      [Rev 19:7] Let us rejoice and exult and give him the glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and his Bride has made herself ready;
[Rev 19:8] it was granted her to be clothed with fine linen, bright and pure"--for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints.
[Rev 19:9] And the angel said to me, "Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb." And he said to me, "These are true words of God."
[Rev 19:14] And the armies which were in heaven followed him [the raptured] upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
[Mat 24:29] Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
[Mat 24:30] And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
[Mat 24:31] And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
[Zech 14:5] And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.
[Jud 1:14] And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
[Col 3:4] When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
Interesting verse number: 12:12 12 is written all over New Jerusalem, and there are 24 elders in heaven after the rapture in Rev. 4:1.
[Rev 12:12] Rejoice then, O heaven and you that dwell therein! But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows that his time is short!"
Yes, the Bride is in heaven, coming down out of heaven at the end of the tribulation:
[Rev 21:2] And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
[Rev 21:9] And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
[Rev 21:10] And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 - for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
Isaiah 66:6 - The sound of noise from the city! A voice from the temple! The voice of the LORD, Who fully repays His enemies!

      Closing Thoughts
I thank you for coming down this mental journey with me concerning why I believe in the Pre-Tribulation Rapture of the Church. Hopefully it has confirmed or challenged some of your eschatological ideas. Bear in mind, though, that one's end-time views have no bearing on the doctrine of salvation. What is to be celebrated is that our salvation will one day lead us upwards to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ forever and ever.

All of the following was gathered from various sources, god consistently rescues his own before he pronounces judgment and in typology the types of Christ all marry there gentile bride before the 7 year hardship Christ himself said he would be coming from a wedding and revelations promises the faithful church will be kept from the hour o temptation which shall come upon the whole world god repeats and reminds y he spared Noah and just lot and Enoch was translated before the judgment upon the whole world ,
It is a very strong argument I can not claim due to this strength I am 100 percent but I will pray and ask God and perhaps you should be open to do the same

I only gave you maybe 1/4 of what i have and i keep finding more aand more i urge you to use the whole counsil of God and take God at his word if God promised that nelivers might escape all these things that will come upon the whole world thzt and that alone should convince you of a pretribulation rapture, bt the fact that jesu mentoned in the gospels the time of noah and lot who were both resuccued BEFORE HE STARTED THE JUDGEMNT NOT A DROP OF RAIN FELL UNTILL NOAH WAS SAFELY ON BOARD AND THEN IT LIFTED UP LOT WAS TAKEN OUT BEOFRE THE FIRE FELL AND THE ANGEL SPECIFICALLY TOLD HIM HE COULD DO NO THIG UNTILL LOT WAS SAFELY AWAY, THAT ALONG WITH 2ND PETRERR 2 VERRSE 9 AND REVELATIN 3 VERSE 10 AND THAT ENOCH WAS RAPTUED BEFORE THE FLOOD SHOULD TEL YOU BUT PEOLE THINK PRETRIBBERS ARE BLIND USE THE WHOLE CONCIL OF SCRIPTURE AND PRAY AND ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT TO TELL YOU BEFORE YOU BECOME ONE OF THE FOOLISH VIRGINS THAT YOU THINK ALL PRETRIBBERS ARE YEAH THER NUTS LIKE NOAH BULDING A BAAOT BEFORE ANY RAIN HAD EVER FALLEN AND SAFELY ON BOARD BEOFRE ANY RAIN HAD FALLEN THE PREFLOOD PEOLE THOUGHT HE WAS NUTS ALSO

    17. Brother (or sister), you are right about God rescuing his righteous before doom and destruction, like in the stories of Lot and Noah, but you are wrong about one thing...the timing!!!

Notice in both the stories of Lot and Noah that the Lord destroyed the wicked IMMEDIATELY AFTER He led Lot and his family up and out of Sodom or Noah into the ark!!! It was done instantaneous and the Lord didn't wait days or weeks or years!!!

This is a very important detail you are missing out on. As we know, the Lord is very accurate with his prophecies and every detail gets fulfilled! So the Lord will NOT rapture His Church and then wait around 7 years and then destroy the world. This scenario does not line-up to His prophecies. Instead, the church WILL endure the full 7 year Tribulation period (and there are countless scriptures proving that!) and then in the very end, JUST BEFORE the Lord destroys this planet with fire, he will rapture his righteous house!

Do you understand what I'm saying? Go back and check out the scriptures and you will see that what I am saying is correct and biblical!

And yes, all the details are important when it comes to end-times. We can't just play with peoples minds and give them a false hope. Jesus said that we will follow in his footsteps, carry our crosses, be persecuted for his name etc. The Bible says that we will be slain in the last days so there is no denying it! No easy way out folks, sorry! But the Lord will help some of us survive and send countless angels to minister to us and yes, some of us will see the Lord's coming and not die during the hardest period of the history of mankind!

      God bless you all!

  4. Were you just testing him or did you have a change of heart? If so, I was in the same boat as a very strong pre-trib believer! although I believed very strongly in this view, something was very wrong because every time I read the NT I got confused as passages seemed to contradict each other. Then when I began reading Gabriel's message I discovered that with the POST-trib the NT made complete sense!

    - Jesus will not come 3 times but only twice like the Bible says.
    - If Jesus himself said "immediately after those days" and then followed by talking about the rapture means exactly what said! In the same order and timing he mentioned also! Why should we twist his words and think otherwise, as if calling Jesus a liar and believing our own thoughts instead of HIS words!
    - Lots of other clear examples in the NT.

Truly folks, think seriously about this cause it is a serious thing! Probably the most awaited event these 2000 years next to Jesus's 2nd advent! This is not just "some peoples opinions" and its ok to have any opinion you like. No, in this case, unlike many unknown matters in the Bible, this one has hard, clear biblical evidence to support it! This is the only trib view which is accurate and the truth! Crystal clear and soooo elementary as Gabriel put it so well.

May our Awesome Lord continue to open the eyes of many more these last days! May the Lord bless you all and help you see clearly and read his word prayerfully and spiritually in the name of Jesus Christ!
